How to get away on holiday and keep your business moving…

I don’t know about you but I love holidays. For me going there’s nothing else that compares to travelling somewhere different, experiencing a new culture, having a break from routine and enjoying the food and drink that different countries offer. But it’s not always easy getting away at any time of the year and keeping your business running smoothly whilst you’re gone. Gone are the days of simply putting in your holiday request to be signed off and turning on your out of office when it’s time to go!

We’d like to offer up three tips that we find help to make sure you can have a well-earned break:

  1. Look ahead – this is perhaps the most important thing. Look at what is happening in your business in the weeks before you go, whilst you’re away and what’s happening in the week or so after you come back. What renewals are due during this time? Are there any events taking place? If you know what’s coming up you can factor this into your workload in the lead up to your break.

  2. Plan – where possible build in any time off to your marketing plans and new business targets. If you know resource is going to be tight for a week or two whilst you’re on holiday, don’t give yourself more pressure by rolling out a new marketing campaign or signing up to any events around this time. Allow your time and energy to be focused on the work that’s essential.

  3. Communication – talk to your customers, let them know that you are going on holiday. In my experience no-one begrudges someone taking a holiday, especially if they know what’s happening and who they can contact during this time should something urgent come up.

If you have a holiday coming up but don’t have anyone in your business to keep things ticking over, this is where Insurance Support Solutions Ltd can help you. We can offer temporary, experienced, administration support to be there whilst you take a well-earned holiday. There’s no tie in or commitment on your side.

These are some of the things we’ve done for other brokers whilst they’ve been away:

  • Monitor communications from your clients and respond to them so they don’t have to wait until you’re back.

  • Keep your renewals moving, be that following up on terms that you’re waiting for, checking through terms that have been received, updating Acturis or prepping renewal invites for you.

  • Check and issue policy documents to clients.

  • Process MTA’s, we know these can be urgent and can’t always wait!

And if you don’t want to switch off completely, we will of course send you some regular updates so that you know what’s going on.
